As United Methodists we have a great history in worshiping God in music and song, and our music programs provides an opportunity for anyone to make a joyful noise to God. We have 2 vocal choirs, one for our 8:15 a.m. service and one for our 10:45 am service that are open to anyone from Sr. High School age to those with more life experience. The choirs rehearse Thursday Evenings at 7:30. Each year our choirs combine and allow those who aren't able to sing for the whole year to join them for a Christmas Cantata during Advent. We also have a hand bell choir that rings to the Lord during both of our worship services and special occasions at our church. They rehearse Thursdays at 6:15 p.m. in the Sanctuary. Last year our bell choir celebrated Pentecost by surprising our congregation with multiple renditions complete with bass guitar and drums. All music programs are always looking for new members, if interested please contact Tom Ruhl or Lucy Buck or the church office.
Christmas Cantata Rehearsals
First United Methodist Church, Muncy, will begin rehearsals on October 12 for the Christmas cantata, “The Song Heard ‘Round the World.”
Joseph Martin, cantata composer, states, “Every culture in the world has its own Christmas legacy of song. This cantata expresses the paradox of diversity and unity. It displays the many varieties of song and worship found throughout the world, while celebrating the unity we have in the gospel of Christ.” The cantata will be accompanied by a small orchestra.
We invite all those with an interest in choral singing to join our choir in offering this cantata on December 17 during the 10:45 worship service and at 2:00. As part of fulfilling our church’s mission of “Celebrating Life Together in Christ—Growing Deeper, Reaching Wider,” we invite community members to join us. Please invite those you know who might enjoy participating in this wonderful Christmas experience.
Rehearsals are 7:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday. For information contact the church office at 570-546-8030.
