Missions at the First United Methodist Church are a ministry included as a part of the “Externally Focused” team along with Evangelism, Volunteers in Mission and missionaries. We work together to promote hands-on activities outside the church including Fourth Friday Events in Muncy and VIM trips to help local residents with home improvement jobs that they could otherwise not afford. VIM trips also reach out of state where hurricane repairs are being done on a yearly basis. Family Promise has been a quarterly program where meals were provided at another church within Lycoming County. With our new Celebration Center, we are able to house the homeless families on overnights as well as supplying their meals. This is all done by a multitude of volunteers from our congregation as they share their gifts of pantry supplies, cooked meals and the generosity with their time to make a difference to the homeless in our area. Our Missions team also works with our partners in Sierra Leone to raise money for them to buy a much needed boat. We financially help our pastors and missionaries in Weavertown Church in Sierra Leone, Rio DeJanerio, Brazil and the Eurasian Initiative.
